Late in 2008 a small group of plucky youngsters, brought together by their love of Musical Theatre, conspired to produce and perform their own season of a musical which no theatre company in town would touch.
The show was RENT (2009), and the young creatives were the founders of Staged by Creatives, performing under the name SBC Productions.
Following RENT, the founding members Dylan Shalless, Laurence Heenan, Siobhan Heenan, Matthew Henderson and Jordan Ryan under the careful guidance of Matthew and Cathy Heenan produced A New Brain (2011) & Bare (2012) before other creative and professional endeavours put the company on standby.
Our team have been doing a lot separately and together since our last shows; studying, performing, creating and honing their craft. A lot has changed, but their passion remains.
Our goal is to bring a dedicated, high quality creative experience in theatre to the Ballarat community, exploring innovative and boutique productions. A mentoring ground for passionate upcoming creatives, providing a stepping stone to professional performance inclusive of the expectations, mutual respect and opportunities therein. We aim to bring creatives together and take on projects yet unseen on the stages of Ballarat, and to make every venture an exciting and enjoyable experience.
